Skills of the national handicraft workers were getting more peculiar with time. Passing their knowledge, accumulated during the time when the Kyrghyz lead nomad's life, from generation to generation they have saved the technique, which is so invaluable for our culture now.
The «Tumar» Art Group has a goal to save and popularize decorative-handicraft art of the nation. Also, to create new, modern goods - clothes, interior details and more, using only traditional, ecologically pure production.
In few years we managed to create production districts all over Kyrghyzstan. Natural, ecologically pure production technique is used there.
The «Tumar» Art Group was established in 1996. Work of districts specialized on wood, ceramics, national clothes, felt goods processing, departments of metal and textile art processing and yurts manufacturing department was set going. Independent national handicraft workers are also in the staff of the «Tumar» Art Group. It is also planned to arrange districts specialized on weaving, leather and fur processing in future.
The «Tumar» Art Group takes an active part in cultural life of Kyrghyzstan by arranging Ethnographical expeditions to far situated villages and holding different events.
Handicraft workers and specialists of the Group teach young people, who want to work in this sphere. We try to resuscitate some kinds of national handicraft, which are forgotten by now. We work on rendering methodical support to different educational and other institutions, which are connected to the national art.
